PE4K Childcare Exploring Creativity

At PE4K, we believe all children are born creative, and the educators’ role is to nurture this creativity. Creativity is not only important for its own sake, but also because it furthers children’s emotional, social, intellectual and, according to many, physical development.

In the Explore Creativity Program, educators nurture children’s creativity by providing them with opportunities to engage in imaginative play where they can explore their thoughts, feelings and ideas, and share them with others. Educators minimise interruptions to children’s play at these times. Children also take part in activities such as music, dance, singing, drama, pottery and painting.

Further, educators support children’s creativity by encouraging dispositions such as imagination, curiosity, confidence, enthusiasm, persistence and openness to challenge. They also encourage children to share and discuss their ideas, ask children open-ended questions, and encourage problem-solving.
